Coimbatore: IndiGo Airlines is set to enhance international connectivity from Coimbatore with the introduction of a new route to Abu Dhabi. The airline plans to operate thrice-weekly flights between Coimbatore International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport, subject to approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

According to the proposed schedule, flights from Coimbatore to Abu Dhabi will depart at 07:30 AM and arrive at 11:30 AM. The return flight from Abu Dhabi to Coimbatore will take off at 01:00 AM and land at 06:30 AM. The service is expected to commence from August 13, 2024, operating every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

IndiGo is also planning to introduce flights from Tiruchirappalli to Abu Dhabi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Both routes are currently awaiting DGCA approvals.

An airline spokesperson mentioned that if all regulatory procedures are completed this week, bookings for these new routes could open as early as next week. This development is expected to boost international travel options for passengers from Coimbatore and provide better connectivity to the Middle East.

The introduction of these new routes reflects IndiGo's commitment to expanding its international network and catering to the growing demand for air travel between India and the UAE. It also signifies the increasing importance of Coimbatore as a key aviation hub in South India.
