Coimbatore MP Discusses Possibilities after Airport Expansion and Int’l Cricket Stadium with Australian Consul General

Coimbatore MP Ganapathi Rajkumar met Australian Consul General Silai Zaki on Wednesday to discuss airport expansion, cricket stadium, and cooperation in healthcare, tourism, education, and infrastructure.



Coimbatore: Coimbatore MP Ganapathi P. Rajkumar held a meeting with Australian Consul General in Chennai, Silai Zaki, on Wednesday to discuss strengthening cooperation between Australia and Coimbatore. The talks primarily focused on the expansion of Coimbatore International Airport and the proposed cricket stadium.

The meeting, which lasted for more than two hours, explored various areas of potential collaboration between Coimbatore and Australia. "There is a lot of scope for building a good relationship between Coimbatore and Australia in multiple areas," Rajkumar stated after the meeting.

The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including healthcare, tourism, education, and infrastructure development. Rajkumar expressed interest in pairing universities in Coimbatore with those in Australia and launching skilling initiatives through tie-ups with Australian agencies.

The meeting also addressed sustainability and renewable energy issues, with a focus on how Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Coimbatore can grow sustainably with support from Australia.

Both parties emphasized the importance of fostering stronger ties between Coimbatore and Australia, recognizing the potential for mutual growth and development in various sectors.
