Two youths killed in bike-car collision near Kallar, Coimbatore

A tragic accident near Kallar, Coimbatore resulted in the death of two youths when their KTM bike collided with a government car carrying a police official's wife. The incident occurred on July 8.


Coimbatore: A devastating accident near Kallar, Coimbatore, claimed the lives of two young men when their KTM motorcycle collided with a government car on Saturday, July 8. The incident involved the wife of the Nilgiris District Superintendent of Police, who was traveling in the car at the time of the collision.

Sundar Vadivel, serving as the Superintendent of Police for the Nilgiris district, had his wife traveling to Coimbatore via Mettupalayam in a government car on July 8. The car was being driven by a Grade I police constable named Tamil.

As the car approached the Kallar area, two youths from the Ooty Kandal region - Althaf (21), an employee at a cottage, and Junaith (19), a college student - were riding a KTM motorcycle from Mettupalayam towards Ooty. Suddenly, the motorcycle, reportedly driven at high speed by Althaf, collided violently with the police official's car.

The impact of the collision was so severe that both riders were thrown off the bike and sustained critical injuries.



The motorcycle caught fire immediately after the crash, prompting quick action from local residents who rescued the injured youths and rushed them to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital.

After receiving initial treatment, both Althaf and Junaith were transferred to a private hospital in Coimbatore for advanced care. Tragically, Althaf succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital. Junaith, who was under intensive care, also passed away later.

The Mettupalayam Police have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
