Drunk man halts government bus for over an hour near Udumalaipet, creates ruckus

A intoxicated man single-handedly blocked a government bus near Udumalaipet for over an hour, causing chaos. The police eventually intervened and arrested the troublemaker.

Coimbatore: In a bizarre incident near Udumalaipet in Tiruppur district, a drunk man halted a government bus for over an hour, creating a ruckus and inconveniencing passengers. The man, identified as Ponraj from Valavadi, is known for his frequent drunken disturbances in the area.

On Thursday, Ponraj intercepted bus number 41 operating on the Pollachi-Valavadi route. Standing alone in front of the bus, he refused to let it pass, claiming, "This area doesn't get proper water supply. I won't let the bus go until water comes." He continued his disruptive behavior for more than an hour, causing significant delays.

During the standoff, Ponraj made peculiar statements, including, "I won't fold my dhoti. If I do, it'll look different." As the situation escalated, the frustrated bus driver alerted the local police. Officers from the Thali police station arrived at the scene and apprehended the inebriated troublemaker, taking him to the police station.

After Ponraj's removal, the bus was finally able to resume its journey, much to the relief of the passengers who had been stuck for over an hour. The incident highlights the challenges faced by public transportation services and the importance of prompt police intervention in such situations.
