Three Arrested for Illicit Liquor Brewing Near Tirupur, 60 Liters of Wash Destroyed

In Vellakovil near Tirupur, police arrested three men for brewing illicit liquor at home. 60 liters of wash and 6.4 liters of arrack were seized and destroyed during the raid.


Tirupur: Three men were arrested for brewing illicit liquor near Tirupur, with police seizing and destroying 60 liters of wash used in the production process.



Acting on a tip-off, Vellakovil police raided the house of Manoj (30), a resident of Vaikkaal Medu area in Vellakovil, Kangeyam, Tirupur district. During the search, authorities discovered 60 liters of wash used for brewing illicit liquor. Additionally, 6.4 liters of arrack, ready for sale, were found on the premises.

Police arrested Manoj along with his friends Selvaraj (53) and Kutti Murugan (44). The seized wash was immediately poured out and destroyed at the site. The incident of illicit liquor brewing so close to the police station has shocked local residents.

Following this incident, Vellakovil police have intensified their efforts by setting up vehicle checkpoints in the area to prevent further illegal activities related to liquor production and distribution.

The arrest highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing the production and sale of illicit liquor in the region. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal brewing to help maintain law and order in the community.
