Coimbatore Lawyers Continue 3rd day of Protest Demanding the Repeal of New Criminal Laws

In Coimbatore, lawyers protested near the District Collector's office demanding the repeal of new criminal laws, claiming they violate human rights.

Coimbatore: The legal community in Coimbatore staged a protest near the District Collector's office, voicing their demands for the repeal of new criminal legislations.

These protests are in response to the implementation of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Saksi Adhiniyam, national laws which took effect from July 1. The lawyers argue that the new statutes undermine fundamental human rights.

Previously, on July 1, the lawyers' association also conducted a hunger strike in front of the Coimbatore Court Complex to express their discontent with these laws.

Today's demonstration included chants and slogans emphasizing the need to protect human rights and revoke the controversial laws.
