Marxist Party Stages Protest in Pollachi Demanding Complete Prohibition and Arrests for Illegal Liquor Deaths

In Pollachi, members of the Marxist Party protested demanding a complete ban on alcohol, after over 60 deaths related to illicit liquor consumption in Kallakurichi.

Coimbatore: A significant protest organized by the Marxist Communist Party took place in Pollachi's Thiruvalluvar Grounds, calling for stringent actions against illicit liquor trade that recently killed over 60 people in Kallakurichi. The party emphasized the dire need for the total eradication of alcohol sales and voiced their demands for a complete prohibition across Tamil Nadu to prevent further deaths. The protest also highlighted issues with the NEET examination process, demanding its cancellation due to persistent discrepancies.

The Marxist Party's demonstrators also communicated the necessity of reducing the operational hours of liquor shops and eventually aiming for a phased closure as a move towards total prohibition. The tragedy in Kallakurichi has ignited various organizations to rally for an immediate halt in alcohol trade and pressed for the accountability of those responsible for circulating illegal liquor. Additionally, concerns about the fairness and efficiency of the NEET exam were addressed, urging an immediate revocation to safeguard students' future.
