Rising Water Levels in Aliyar Dam Due to Southwest Monsoon

Following heavy rains from the southwest monsoon, water inflow into the Aliyar Dam near Anaimalai has increased significantly. The dam's water level has now reached 85 feet, delighting local farmers.

Coimbatore: The ongoing southwest monsoon has intensified across various parts of Tamil Nadu, leading to a significant increase in water influx into the Aliyar Dam, located near Anaimalai. During the summer season, the dam had experienced severe drought conditions, causing water levels to drop to ground level. However, continuous rainfall in the Western Ghats has now lifted the water level to 85 feet out of its 120 feet capacity, according to officials from the Public Works Department.

This rise in water levels has brought joy to local farmers who rely on the dam for irrigation purposes. As the dam reaches a more stable water capacity, agricultural activities in the region are expected to thrive.
