TNSTC Staff Suspended Over Faulty Bus Steering Wheel in Coimbatore

Two TNSTC staff, an assistant engineer and a technical staffer, were suspended after a video showcasing a faulty steering wheel on a Coimbatore-Mettupalayam bus went viral.

Coimbatore: Two employees of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) in Coimbatore faced suspension on Saturday following the circulation of a distressing video on social media. The footage, captured by a bus driver, demonstrated severe malfunctions in the steering wheel of a bus operating between Coimbatore and Mettupalayam. The video depicted the steering wheel excessively tilting and panning within its column, raising safety concerns.

Immediate investigations by TNSTC authorities pinpointed an assistant engineer and a technical staff member responsible for overlooking vital safety inspections prior to the bus's departure. Their failure to conduct these checks culminated in swift disciplinary actions for dereliction of duty and negligence.
