Wild Elephant Rampage Damages Banana Trees and Homes in Valparai's Akkamalai Estate

A wild tusker damaged banana trees and residences in Akkamalai Estate, Valparai, causing panic and leading locals to demand action for their safety on June 30.


Coimbatore: A wild tusker wreaked havoc in the Akkamalai Estate area of Valparai, Coimbatore district, on June 29. The lone elephant destroyed banana plants and houses in the area, leading to severe damage.


The local residents informed estate officials, who with the public's help, tried to drive the elephant back into the forest. This resulted in a tense situation in the locality.




Furthermore, the tusker broke into more than five residences, causing residents to lose sleep over fears of additional attacks.


Therefore, on June 30, the residents have formally requested measures to ensure their safety from further incidents involving the wild elephant.
