In an initiative presided over by Corporation Commissioner IAS M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, essential items including sanitary bins were donated in Coimbatore, aiding 160 sanitary workers.
Coimbatore: In a significant community support event, the Coimbatore Corporation, under the guidance of Corporation Commissioner IAS M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, facilitated the donation of essential items to assist local sanitary workers. The event was organized by the Race and Neighbourhood Association (RANA), with notable contributions from Dr Kamini Surendran, an executive member and Green Warrior for Ward 66.
The gesture was in appreciation of the ongoing efforts of the community's sanitary staff. In addition to providing sanitary bins to enhance the city's cleanliness, RANA also arranged for the distribution of khaki uniforms for men and sarees provided by Cooptex for the women among the 160 workers.
Further demonstrating the community's support, a brush cutter was donated to facilitate the cutting of weeds, improving the efficiency of maintaining public spaces. During the challenging times of COVID-19, RANA had previously supported these tireless workers by distributing groceries to help them cope with the pandemic's economic impact.
Executive members Chandrashekar, Divya, and Sowmya played pivotal roles in the coordination of these efforts, ensuring that the aid reached those who needed it most. This event not only provided necessary tools and attire to the sanitary workers but also reinforced the community's commitment to supporting its members during crucial times.
