Coimbatore Municipal Commissioner IAS M. Sivaguru Prabakaran Inspects Ongoing Water Projects

Coimbatore Municipal Commissioner IAS M. Sivaguru Prabakaran conducted field inspections of various ongoing water supply projects under the Eastern Zone of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation on June 24, 2024.



Coimbatore: In a comprehensive field visit, the Coimbatore Municipal Commissioner, IAS M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, inspected the ongoing water project activities including significant upgrades under the AMRUT scheme across diverse areas of the Eastern Zone yesterday. During his visit, Commissioner Prabhakaran closely observed the operations at sites like Nehru Nagar (Ward 7) and in Vilankurichi and T.Nagar under Ward 5, where extensive water supply enhancements are underway to improve public access to clean water.

He examined a newly constructed overhead water storage tank with a capacity of approximately 2.50 lakh liters in AMRUT project areas. His visit also extended to Ward 8's Shiva Nagar, where he assessed a larger storage tank holding up to 5 lakh liters, part of substantial efforts to boost water distribution network efficiency.



Continuing his inspection, Commissioner Prabhakaran directed the waste management efforts at the drainage canal in Title Park, Cherranmanagar. He emphasized the necessity of timely cleansing measures to facilitate smooth water flow and prevent blockages. He also instructed the municipal officials to ensure that the canals are adequately covered and kept clean to maintain public health standards.



Further, in Ward 23’s Souba Nagar, near Coimbatore International Airport, he assessed the drainage system's conditions, aligning with the sanitation standards expected of a major city. Evident throughout his inspections was a firm directive to clear canals of refuse and overgrowth, thereby aiding the city's ongoing efforts towards better sanitation management.



Accompanying the Commissioner were Assistant Commissioners including Kavita, City Council Members like Vijayakumar, Babu, Boopathy, Assistant Engineer Raajeskanna, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board Assistant Engineer Pattan, Municipal Assistant Engineer Kumar and officials from the Coimbatore International Airport and municipal corporation.
