Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trafficking, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Pollachi seized 822 bottles of out-of-state liquor during a vehicle inspection near C. Gopalapuram. The officials, led by Inspector Selvam, intercepted a suspicious pickup vehicle and found the illicit bottles.
The province-wide stringent monitoring of alcohol sales has escalated following a tragic incident in Kallakurichi where 54 people died due to illicit alcohol consumption.
