Coimbatore: A family dispute turned violent in RS Puram, Coimbatore, leading to a severe incident involving auto driver Madanraj, who attempted to set his in-laws' house on fire. 60-year-old Radhakrishnan, also an auto driver and a resident of Meenakshi Nagar, has been frequently embroiled in disputes with his son-in-law, Madanraj, who hails from Vedapatti VDS Nagar. The tensions between Madanraj and his wife, which had previously escalated to the courts with ongoing divorce proceedings, peaked when Madanraj, in a fit of rage, poured petrol on Radhakrishnan's house on June 17. Following the altercation, Madanraj's wife filed a complaint at the Thondamuthur police station.
Witnesses near the incident managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread significantly. However, the front part of the house suffered damage, including some possessions and the front door. Based on the complaint filed by Radhakrishnan, RS Puram police registered a case and arrested Madanraj on June 19.
Local authorities are currently investigating further to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
