Tragic Incident in Tiruppur: 7-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling into a Well

A 7-year-old boy, Sanjay, died after falling into a well while playing near his home in Arulpuram, close to Palladam in Tiruppur district. The community demands safety measures.

Coimbatore: In a heartbreaking incident in Tiruppur district, a young boy lost his life after a fall into a well. The tragedy occurred in the Arulpuram area, near Palladam, where 7-year-old Sanjay was playing near his house. The child accidentally fell into the well full of water located opposite his residence on Wednesday evening.

Sanjay, son of Kumareshan, a serving army soldier, was watched by neighbors as he played. His fall has again highlighted the lack of safety in residential areas near open wells, which are often left unprotected. This particular well, known to be deep and filled with water, has been a site of several accidents, claiming lives of young children in the past.

Following this tragic event, the local youth and families have raised serious concerns about the safety standards in the neighborhood. There have been calls for the well to be securely covered and for the installation of protective barriers to prevent such incidents. The community has warned that if steps are not taken to secure the well, they would block the Tirupur road in protest and have alerted the local authorities to their grievances.

The local panchayat leader has been urged to take immediate action to address these safety issues to avoid further tragedies.
