Drivers and Conductors of Private and Public Buses Clash in Coimbatore, Traffic Disrupted

In Coimbatore, a dispute between private and public bus drivers near the District Collector Office disrupts traffic. The argument, stemming from timing issues, escalated before being controlled by passengers and bystanders.

Coimbatore: Today, a heated argument escalated between drivers and conductors of a government bus (route number 33 from Kinathukadavu to Gandhipuram) and a private bus (1C) near the District Collector Office, leading to a significant traffic disruption. The dispute arose over timing schedules, pausing both buses in the middle of the road, causing inconvenience to commuters and passers-by.

The verbal altercation turned physical for a while until attendees and other commuters intervened, calming the situation, and allowing the buses to resume their routes. Due to the buses stopping mid-road, traffic was blocked for approximately one kilometer towards the Railway Station Road.

This incident highlights an ongoing issue within Coimbatore city where frequent conflicts between private and government bus staff over timing and routes affect daily commuters. Local citizens have expressed their concern, urging that traffic police be stationed at critical points to prevent such disruptions in the future.
