Man Stabbed to Death by His Elder Brother and Friend in Periyanayakanpalayam

A family dispute turned deadly in Periyanayakanpalayam, Coimbatore, where Maruthamuthu was stabbed and killed by his elder brother, Viji, and a friend, Kumareshan, under the influence of alcohol.


Coimbatore: In an unfortunate event that has shaken the community of Bala Vinayagar Nagar, Periyanayakanpalayam, a 41-year-old laborer named Maruthamuthu became a victim of a fatal assault by his elder brother and his friend. A dispute arose when Maruthamuthu objected to others using the common bathroom outside his brother Vijay's wife Chitra’s house while she was intoxicated. The altercation escalated when dirt was thrown into Maruthamuthu's food by Chitra, leading to a verbal argument and physical attack involving a stick by Maruthamuthu.

His mother, Lakshmi, informed his elder brother Vijay about the incident. In retaliation, an intoxicated Vijay and his friend Kumareshan arrived by auto and entered Maruthamuthu's house, where they stabbed him in the neck and abdomen. Maruthamuthu succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Periyanayakanpalayam police rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation. The assailants, Vijay and Kumareshan, were apprehended and are currently undergoing interrogation by the police.
