Coimbatore BJP Women's Wing Reports Derogatory Social Media Post Against Party Leaders

In Coimbatore, the BJP Women's Wing filed a complaint against derogatory comments made on social media targeting MLA Vanathi Srinivasan and state leader Annamalai. Actions are urged against continuous offensive posts by a DMK IT wing member.

Coimbatore: The BJP Women's Wing in Coimbatore city has lodged a complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station against an individual associated with the DMK IT wing for posting offensive and slanderous comments on the social media platform 'X'. This individual targeted BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan and the state leader Annamalai with derogatory words which has caused considerable unrest within the political community.

Further, the alleged social media account, known by 'ethisundar' on 'X', carried unacceptable remarks questioning the integrity and capabilities of the mentioned political leaders, specifically questioning, "Whether Viagra would help in boosting their performance?" This has not only caused embarrassment but also triggered a serious concern among the BJP members.

The BJP Women's Wing, led by Jaya Shree, focuses on ensuring that the digital space does not become a ground for such derogatory content especially against women. They are pressing for severe actions against habitual offenders who misuse social media platforms to spread harmful and offensive content. The High Court of Chennai had previously mandated special divisions within police stations nationwide to handle such cyber crimes effectively to prevent these incidents from causing greater harm to individuals.

The Women's Wing has emphasized the need for strict enforcement of laws to curb cyber harassment and protect personal dignity in the digital sphere, especially targeting women and public figures. The local police have initiated an investigation to identify the individual behind the offensive posts using a child's photograph to mask their identity, thus doubling down on the offensive nature of their actions.
