Wild Elephants Spotted on Steps of Maruthamalai Temple, Video Goes Viral

Two wild elephants were spotted at the steps of Maruthamalai Subramaniyaswamy Temple on June 16 evening, causing a stir among devotees. The video of the incident went viral on June 17.


Coimbatore: In an unusual yet fascinating event, two wild elephants were spotted wandering near the residential areas of Maruthamalai before making their way to the steps of the Maruthamalai Subramaniyaswamy Temple on June 16. The elephants were seen during the time when devotees usually visit the temple, capturing the attention of many.

The sight of these large animals on the temple stairs surprised both devotees and locals alike. After spending some time on the stairs, the elephants eventually left the area. Following the incident, the video capturing this rare encounter started trending on social media the next day, turning it into a viral sensation.

While no property damage or injuries were reported, the visit of these elephants to such a populated part of the city has sparked discussions about wildlife movement in urban areas. Authorities are keeping a close watch and have advised the public to be cautious while traveling near the forest bordering regions of Maruthamalai.
