Thousands Gather for Special Eid Prayers at Coimbatore Karumbukkadai Islamic Matriculation School

In Coimbatore, thousands of Muslims gathered with their families at the Karumbukkadai Islamic Matriculation Higher Secondary School to perform special Eid prayers today, marking the festival of Eid-al-Adha.


Coimbatore: Across the nation, Muslims engaged in special prayers today, June 17, celebrating the festival of Eid-al-Adha, with significant gatherings noted at various locations including Coimbatore. Notably, the Karumbukkadai region saw thousands of Muslims come together at the premises of its Islamic Matriculation Higher Secondary School for the occasion.


Eid-al-Adhais recognized as one of the most significant festivals for Muslims. It is celebrated with a spirit of helping others, and performing the Hajj pilgrimage is also a key duty completed during this month. After the prayers, the affluent amongst the community follow the tradition of Qurbani by sacrificing livestock such as goats and cows, and distributing the meat among family, friends, and the less fortunate.


In economic terms, those of middle-class status or above often participate in communal Qurbani, pooling resources to assist one another. The gathering concluded with attendees embracing and exchanging greetings joyously, reflecting a strong sense of community and celebration.
