Deer Dies After Dog Attack Near Maruthamalai

A two-year-old spotted deer died at Vadavalli near Maruthamalai foothills, Coimbatore, after being attacked by dogs yesterday, June 8.


Coimbatore: The Vadavalli area near the foothills of Maruthamalai, which houses numerous residential communities adjacent to forested regions, experiences frequent wildlife movement, including elephants and deer.

Yesterday, on June 8, locals found the body of a two-year-old spotted deer in a vacant plot in the area. They immediately reported the incident to the Forest Department. Upon retrieval, the Forest officials conducted a post-mortem examination, which revealed that the deer had succumbed to injuries caused by a dog attack. The presence of wild animals in close proximity to residential areas has raised concerns about safety and wildlife management.
