A man was arrested for robbing ₹1000 at knife-point near Ukkadam Valankulam Junction, Coimbatore, after pretending to ask for directions.
Coimbatore: In a recent incident near Ukkadam Valankulam Junction, a 37-year-old finance company employee, Vairavamoorthy, was robbed at knife-point while his motorcycle was being repaired. He was traveling with his friend when their bike broke down.
As his friend went to call a mechanic, Vairavamoorthy was approached by a youth asking for directions to Kuniamuthur. As Vairavamoorthy gave directions, the youth suddenly threatened him with a knife and stole ₹1000 before fleeing the scene.
Vairavamoorthy reported the incident to the Race Course Police Station where a case was registered. The investigation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Dharmaraj from Telungupalayam Sockampudur. The police took swift action, arresting the accused who was later remanded in custody.
