Coimbatore Bank Manager Defrauded of Rs. 48.57 Lakhs in Online Scam

Krishna Raj, a bank manager from Vadavalli, Coimbatore, was cheated out of Rs. 48.57 lakhs in an innovative online scam involving bogus part-time job offers and investment schemes.


Coimbatore: Krishna Raj, a 35-year-old manager of a private bank residing in Vadavalli, Coimbatore, fell victim to a sophisticated online fraud, losing Rs. 48.57 lakhs. Recently, he received a text message via WhatsApp offering a lucrative part-time job that required clicking a link and registering his details. Following registration, a mysterious individual contacted Raj, enticing him with high returns on an online trading investment.




After trusting the individual, Raj deposited the mentioned amount into several bank accounts in multiple transactions. However, he neither received any profits nor could he recover the initial investment. When he tried contacting the individual again, he was asked to send more money to receive his original amount plus profits. Subsequent attempts to contact the scammer were unsuccessful, culminating in a total loss of Rs. 48,57,115.




Deceived and distressed, Krishna Raj filed a complaint with the Coimbatore City Cyber Crime Police on June 2nd. The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter.
