Pillur Reservoir in Coimbatore Reaches 94.50 Feet, Likely to Release Excess Water Soon

Pillur Reservoir in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore has reached 94.50 feet, nearing its full capacity of 100 feet due to continuous rain. Authorities expect to release excess water soon for safety.


Coimbatore: The Pillur Reservoir, located in Mettupalayam region of Coimbatore, has seen a significant rise in its water level, currently standing at 94.50 feet as of May 22. This comes after persistent rainfalls enhanced the water intake zones. The reservoir, which has a total capacity of 100 feet, is expected to reach full capacity shortly if the rainfall continues for the next two to three days.

Officials are preparing to release excess water soon considering the safety standards and instructions from the Coimbatore District Collector, Kranthi Kumar Pati. The exact measures and timing of the discharge will be decided based on the continuing weather conditions and water levels in upcoming days.
