Heavy Rainfall Causes Flash Floods and Disrupts Traffic in Coimbatore's Kavundampalayam Area

This afternoon, Coimbatore's Kavundampalayam experienced severe flooding due to heavy rain. Roads were submerged up to knee level, causing significant traffic disruptions.

Coimbatore: Following a series of hot days, Coimbatore has recently seen evening rains. However, today's weather escalated as heavy rain poured down from noon, particularly affecting areas like Kavundampalayam, Thudiyalur, and Periyanaickenpalayam.

The downpour led to flash floods, with water flowing over the streets and accumulating to knee-depth in some parts. This has severely impacted traffic flow in these regions, causing considerable delays and disruptions for commuters.

Residents of Coimbatore had a brief respite from the ongoing summer heat with scattered showers during the evenings over the past few days.

The city woke up to overcast skies this morning, signaling the impending heavy rainfall that struck later in the day. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have issued advisories for drivers to exercise caution and avoid affected routes.
