All India Democratic Women's Association Demands Swift Justice for Udumalai Minor Assault Case

In Udumalai, Tirupur district, two minors were assaulted on December 12, leading to arrests. AIDWA demands quick proceedings and investigation within six months.

Coimbatore: In a recent outcry against child assault, the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) has urged for swift legal proceedings in the case of two minors brutally attacked in Udumalai, Tirupur district.

The incident, which involved nine individuals including three minors, has prompted widespread shock and condemnation.

During a press release, AIDWA’s Deputy Secretary, Suganthi, emphasized the urgent need for justice, highlighting that such incidents affect community trust and child safety. "This case reflects an alarming escalation in crimes by minors in Tamil Nadu, worsened by the readily available drugs in schools and colleges. We demand stringent measures against drug circulation and immediate actions against the facilities harboring such activities," stated Suganthi.

AIDWA officials also stressed enhancing surveillance and establishing stronger child protection frameworks in educational institutions. They urged for quicker investigation and resolution of the case within six months to avoid witness tampering if the accused are released on bail.

Moreover, AIDWA emphasized the importance of community awareness, suggesting that schools include curriculum on gender equality and the implementation of security measures, such as installing surveillance cameras in public places to monitor children's safety.

This incident has mobilized various leaders from AIDWA, including Radhika, Saraswati, Pavithra, Banumathi, Girija, and Indira, alongside Dharapuram Kanagaraj from the Anti-Discrimination Front, urging for profound judicial scrutiny and immediate action.
