Water and Buttermilk Stall Inauguration Event Organized by AIADMK in Kangayam Amidst Severe Water Crisis

Amidst severe water scarcity, AIADMK inaugurated a water and buttermilk stall in Kangayam, Tirupur, today to aid locals, led by former MLA NSN Nataraj and other officials.

Tirupur: Today, the AIADMK city union in Kangayam, Tirupur district, held a significant inauguration event for a new water and buttermilk distribution stall. This initiative is led by former MLA and union secretary NSN. Nataraj along with city union secretary Vengu G. Manimaran.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by Pollachi V. Jayaraman, former Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the District Secretary of Tiruppur, marking the opening of the stall.

The AIADMK's General Secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, has directed that buttermilk and tender coconut water be distributed daily to help the public combat the sweltering summer heat.

In a subsequent interaction with journalists, Pollachi V. Jayaraman elaborated on the dire water shortages plaguing Kangayam and the surrounding areas. He detailed that several regions, including Velakavil town council, Dharapuram town council, and Chennimalai town council, have been suffering acute water deficits. Residents are struggling with unemployment and agricultural distress due to the drying up of agricultural wells and lack of irrigation water, further impacting coconut farming and other agricultural activities.

Jayaraman criticized Chief Minister M. K. Stalin's recent vacation in Kodaikanal during such a crisis, comparing it to the infamous Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned. "At a time when our people are suffering immensely, the CM's action of playing golf in Kodaikanal is akin to adding salt to wounds. The people will surely teach a lesson during the upcoming vote count on June 4," Jayaraman remarked, emphasizing that the tears of the suffering hold the sharpness of a sword.

The event saw a turnout of over 300 local leaders and members of the AIADMK, underlining the community's concerted efforts to ease the harsh conditions brought on by the heatwave.
