Elderly Man Dies After Being Attacked by Grandson in Muthur, Grandson Arrested

In Muthur near Kangayam, an elderly man named Muniappan died after his grandson Arunkumar, allegedly addicted to substances, attacked him following a dispute over a marriage proposal. The incident led to Arunkumar's arrest early this morning.

In a tragic incident in Muthur, near Kangayam, an elderly man lost his life after being attacked by his own grandson. The victim, identified as Muniappan, aged 60, was reportedly attacked using a walking stick by his grandson, Arunkumar, aged 27. The dispute arose over Arunkumar's demand that his grandfather should agree to his marriage proposal to a woman he loved.

Arunkumar, who is said to have a history of substance addiction, was in an intoxicated state when the assault took place. According to sources, there had been frequent arguments between the grandfather and the grandson over Arunkumar's relationship and his lifestyle. Yesterday, the altercation turned violent when Arunkumar, in a fit of rage, grabbed his grandfather's walking stick and assaulted him.

The elderly Muniappan was rushed to the local hospital by some onlookers after he collapsed from the attack. Despite immediate medical attention, Muniappan succumbed to his injuries early this morning, without responding to treatment.

Following the incident, the Vellakoil police took swift action and arrested Arunkumar. He is currently being held for investigation on charges of homicide. The shocking incident of a grandson attacking and causing the death of his grandfather has stirred significant unrest in the Muthur area. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
