Man Arrested for Cattle Theft Near Kangeyam, Caught Through CCTV Footage

In Veeranamapalayam near Kangeyam, Tiruppur District, police arrested a man named Santosh Kumar, caught on CCTV for stealing cattle worth approximately one lakh, using high-definition surveillance.


Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on cattle theft, the Tiruppur District police near Kangeyam have successfully apprehended a suspect involved in stealing cattle using clear evidence from CCTV footage. On April 26th, the owner Arun Prasad (27) of the stolen cattle reported that his prized cattle, including a Sindhi cow and its calf, valued at around one lakh, were missing from his farm in Kallangkadu area near Veeranampalayam on the outskirts of the Kangeyam near the national highway.

Following the report, the police registered the case and embarked on an extensive search.



They utilized CCTV cameras installed near the site and along the Coimbatore-Trichy national highway to gather evidence. This led them to investigate specific vehicles and activities recorded around the time of the theft.

Their diligent efforts paid off when they located and arrested the suspect, 32-year-old Santosh Kumar from Vaigai Nallur region in Karur District. Following further investigation, Santosh Kumar was presented before the court and subsequently detained.

This arrest underscores the effectiveness of surveillance technology in combating crime and highlights the relentless pursuit of justice by the local law enforcement agencies.
