As temperatures soar in Coimbatore, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati initiates buttermilk distribution to the public and government employees at the collectorate to alleviate heat stress.
Coimbatore: In response to the ongoing heatwave in Coimbatore, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has begun a buttermilk distribution initiative at the district collectorate office. The intense heat has caused significant discomfort among the residents, who have been increasingly purchasing and consuming buttermilk, tender coconut water, fruit juices, and traditional drinks like 'kambankoozh' as respite.
Every day, a large number of people visit the collectorate for various purposes. Recognizing the need to protect both the public and government employees from the harsh effects of the heat, Kranthi Kumar Pati launched the distribution of buttermilk today, April 29. This initiative aims to provide a cooling relief to those who visit the administrative building.

Following the commencement by the Collector, staff began handing out buttermilk to all visitors. This gesture not only aids in cooling but also promotes hydration among individuals facing the brunt of the heatwave.
