Former IG Ponmanickavel urged for unity among different spiritual groups at a festival in Pollachi, emphasizing the importance of collaboration during times of temple-related issues.
Coimbatore: A spiritual festival that united Shaivites, Muruga devotees, and various spiritual followers from across Tamil Nadu was conducted at a private marriage hall in Pollachi.

Former Inspector General of Police Ponmanickavel participated and addressed the gathering. During an interaction with the media, he emphasized the division among Hindu sects such as Shaivites, Vaishnavites, and other groups, noting their tendency to operate independently until issues affecting temples arise. Ponmanickavel stressed the importance of setting aside differences and coming together to protect temples when problems occur. “Now is the time for everyone to unite mentally and save the temples. When the temple itself faces issues, everyone should come together. Take pride in your distinctiveness but do not forsake unity when faced with challenges,” he asserted. This appeal was aimed at fostering a stronger community bond when safeguarding temple properties and deities.
