Auto Driver Attacked with Machete in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, an auto driver named Suresh Kumar was attacked with a machete by Kathirvel following a prior dispute. The incident occurred near Chetty Street on April 27.


Coimbatore: An incident of violence erupted in Coimbatore when a 43-year-old auto driver, Suresh Kumar, was brutally attacked with a machete. The attack occurred near the auto stand at Chetty Street, reportedly stemming from a longstanding enmity with another local, Kathirvel, aged 40.


The confrontation began with a verbal altercation that escalated quickly. Enraged, Kathirvel allegedly assaulted Suresh Kumar with a machete, inflicting severe cuts on the back of his head. Onlookers promptly intervened and rushed the injured driver to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for emergency care.




Kathirvel is known to the local police with multiple previous charges including assault and threat to kill. The police at Selvapuram have also registered a case related to the earlier altercation.
