Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College Launches Cyber Security Centre of Excellence

The Department of Information Technology at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College inaugurated its Centre of Excellence on Cyber Security, marking a significant advancement in the field. The ceremony saw key figures in technology and academia emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity in the digital era.



Coimbatore: Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College has taken a significant step towards enhancing cyber security knowledge with the inauguration of its Centre of Excellence on Cyber Security. This landmark event was attended by distinguished personalities, including Ravichandran Durairajan, Head IT Centre at Schlumberger, and Kumar Eeshan, Academic Leader at EC Council, who served as the chief guest and guest of honour, respectively.

Dr. N.R. Alamelu, Principal of the college, along with Dr.M.Senthamil Selvi, Professor and Head of the IT Department, led the inauguration ceremony. Ravichandran Durairajan, during his address, highlighted the critical need for cyber defense mechanisms, stressing the vulnerabilities in cyberspace that allow for criminal activities affecting both individuals and enterprises. He underscored the urgency in preventing cyber attacks and safeguarding data networks, which remain a global challenge.



Kumar Eeshan articulated the significance of establishing the Centre of Excellence, envisioning it as a pivotal milestone in cyber security education. He outlined the Centre’s focus on strategic partnerships, innovative research, and extensive training programs. These include certifications like Information Security Audit and Governance, Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, Certified Ethical Hacker, and Certified Secure Computer User, all aimed at fostering a culture of excellence in cybersecurity education and preparing future generations to protect digital infrastructures and ensure national security.

The event also saw participation from Sri D. Lakshminarayanaswamy, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, Dinesh Paranthan, Founder and CEO of Hackup Technology, and other notable figures from the industry and academia. Their presence underscored the collective effort and dedication towards establishing a robust cyber security framework at the college.
