Karpagam Academy of Higher Education Celebrates 16th Annual Sports Day

The 16th Annual Sports Day at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education saw participation from over 2400 students across various faculties, with the event highlighting the importance of sports and fitness in student life.


Coimbatore: Karpagam Academy of Higher Education hosted its 16th Annual Sports Day celebration on February 19, 2024, at the Sekkizhar Auditorium. The event kicked off at 11:00 am with an inaugural function attended by students from the Faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Architecture Design & Planning, totaling 2400 participants. The ceremony began with a prayer song followed by a welcome address by Dr. S. Suthakar, Director of Physical Education & Sports.



The National Flag was hoisted by the chief guest, Dr. R. Annadurai, Professor, Department of Physical Education and NSS Programme Coordinator at Bharathiyar University, who also reviewed the March past by the sports teams. The Vice Chancellor, Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, delivered the presidential address, while Prof. Dr. S. Ravi, Registrar, felicitated the players. An oath-taking ceremony for the students was conducted to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.



The chief guest emphasized the significance of sports and the maintenance of a healthy diet in his inaugural address. He explored how sports and fitness play a crucial role in human life before officially declaring the sports meet open. Competitions such as 100 meters and relay finals were held for students from all faculties. The chief guest awarded medals to the winners and faculty members at the conclusion of the events.



The overall championship saw FASCM-III B.COM students clinching the first place with 125 points, FOE- III EEE students securing the second place with 85 points, and FOP-IV Pharmacy students finishing third with 75 points. The sports meet concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem, marking another successful year of celebrating sportsmanship and athletic excellence at Karpagam Academy.
