Kottamangalam Panchayat Near Udumalai Faces Public Outcry Over Irregularities in Water Connection

Kottamangalam Panchayat near Udumalai witnesses a heated village council meeting with public disputes against Panchayat leader Sundaram for alleged irregularities in water connections and other schemes.

Coimbatore: A village council meeting in Kottamangalam Panchayat, near Udumalai, Tiruppur district, became a center of controversy following public disputes against the DMK Panchayat leader Sundaram.

The meeting, initially convened to discuss Republic Day celebrations, quickly escalated into heated arguments over various alleged administrative malpractices.

Locals accused the Panchayat administration of engaging in irregularities, particularly in the distribution of water connections to nearby panchayats, neglect in street light maintenance, and malpractices in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The situation intensified when the villagers engaged in heated debates with Panchayat leader Sundaram, raising concerns over the transparency and fairness of the Panchayat's operations.

The villagers strongly argued that a minimum of 100 people should attend the village council meeting and criticized the conduct of the meeting with fewer attendees. Furthermore, they demanded the immediate removal of unlawfully provided water connections to neighboring panchayats.

The meeting concluded with the passing of 22 resolutions, including the rectification of the alleged irregularities. Officials from the Kudimangalam Union and various departmental authorities were present, ensuring that the resolutions would be implemented effectively.
