Pongal Gifts should be Exclusive only to Hindus; Why Jallikattu arena in name Kalaignar? Arjun Sampath during Sanatana Pongal in Dharapuram

Hindu Makkal Katchi State Leader Arjun Sampath emphasized that Pongal gifts should be exclusively given to Hindus, while Christians and Muslims should receive bonuses during their respective festivals.

Coimbatore: At the recently held Sanatana Pongal festival in Dharapuram, Tirupur District, Arjun Sampath, State Leader of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), made a strong pitch for exclusive Pongal gifts to Hindus and called for the removal of restrictions on traditional events like Jallikattu.

The event, organized by the Tirupur South District HMK under the leadership of District Leader Eswaran, was marked by Sampath's significant remarks. Post the Kolam competition prize distribution, he addressed the media, outlining his stance on various contemporary issues.

Sampath criticized the DMK government for reducing the Pongal gift hampers, alleging that the current administration prioritized funds for non-essential projects over public welfare. He emphasized that Pongal gifts should be exclusively given to Hindus, while Christians and Muslims should receive bonuses during their respective festivals.

Furthermore, Sampath highlighted the cultural significance of events like Jallikattu and Rekla races, urging the government to lift the restrictions imposed on these traditional practices. He stressed the importance of preserving these cultural heritage events.

Additionally, Sampath called upon the Tamil Nadu government to declare January 22, the day of the Ayodhya event, as a local holiday. He praised the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Sekar Babu's initiative to provide free travel to Ayodhya for devotees, indicating a positive step towards upholding Hindu traditions.

Sampath's speech at the Sanatana Pongal festival reflects HMK's commitment to preserving Hindu traditions and advocating for the rights and welfare of the Hindu community in the region.
