Avinashi Road Flyover in Coimbatore: Major Pending Works Scheduled for Completion by August

Significant construction tasks remain for the ₹1,620+ crore Avinashi Road flyover project in Coimbatore, with an aim to finish by August.

Coimbatore:

The Avinashi Road flyover project in Coimbatore, valued at over ₹1,620 crores and covering a distance of 10.1 kilometers from Uppilipalayam to Goldwins, is set for completion by August. Initiated in December 2020, the project has made substantial progress, currently standing at 63% completion.

Outstanding Works:

- Of the 305 pillars planned for the flyover, 298 have been completed. The remaining 7 pillars (5 near Nava India and 2 near Hopes College) are yet to be erected.

- Out of the 304 concrete deck slabs required, 190 have been laid, leaving 114 still to be installed.

- Four pairs of ramps for vehicle access are planned at Anna Statue, Nava India, Hopes College, and the Airport Road intersection. Presently, work has started on 7 ramps, with the construction of one more ramp near Hopes College to begin soon.

- Additional land acquisition is required for service roads and stormwater drainage along Avinashi Road.

The Highway Department is focused on completing these remaining tasks within the revised deadline of August, moving forward from the initial target of September. The completion of these works is vital for the functionality and safety of the flyover.
