Two-Year-Old Male Deer Killed in Road Accident Near Dharapuram

A tragic incident near Dharapuram, results in the death of a two-year-old male deer, highlighting wildlife movement in search of water and food.


Coimbatore: A two-year-old male deer was tragically killed in a road accident near Nanjiyampalayam, close to Dharapuram in the Tirupur district. The area, known for its dense forests around the Oothiyur mountain region, is home to various wildlife, including deer.





Due to the drying up of water sources and scarcity of food in the Oothiyur mountain area, wildlife, particularly deer, are migrating towards inhabited areas. Recently, a group of deer was spotted moving in search of water and food. Unfortunately, while crossing the road near Nanjiyampalayam, one of the three deer was hit by an unidentified vehicle and died on the spot.

Upon receiving information about the incident, forest department officials arrived at the scene. They confirmed that the deceased animal was a two-year-old male deer and are taking necessary actions following the incident. This event highlights the increasing challenges faced by wildlife due to environmental changes and the need for effective measures to protect them.
