Fugitive Shanmugam Surrenders in Court Amidst Allegations of Police Harassment

After being sought by police for multiple assault cases, Shanmugam from Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, surrenders in court claiming reform and alleging police threats and false charges against his family.

In a significant turn of events, a notorious criminal from Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, known as Vikku alias Sanmugam, has surrendered to the Integrated Court of Coimbatore. Sanmugam, who has been accused in over ten cases of assault, decided to give himself up after a long period of being pursued by the police’s special task force. His surrender follows the recent arrest of his brother Siva, also known as Sivaneswaran, during which Siva attempted to flee from the police and suffered a leg injury resulting in hospitalization.

Sanmugam’s surrender was compelled by what he describes as constant threats and fabricated charges against him and his family by the police, including false allegations of selling ganja. He stated that his family had been harassed and feared for their lives, especially after his brother was apprehended and injured.

During his interaction with the media at the court, Sanmugam alleged that the police had threatened to shoot him and accused them of plotting false cases against his family members. He claims that despite his willingness to attend the court for the case hearings, he had not done so previously due to the alleged death threats from the opposing party.

Sanmugam expressed his readiness to face the legal inquiries but emphasized that his surrender was to ensure the safety of his family, and out of fear that the police would shoot him if he did not surrender voluntarily.

This unexpected move by Sanmugam has caught the attention of local authorities and the public, as it reveals the complex relationship between law enforcement and those they pursue. Sanmugam’s future now rests in the hands of the legal system, which will further investigate the claims and charges against him.
