Tirupur: A heated confrontation erupted between local traders and the public after authorities announced the relocation of a TASMAC liquor store near Dharapuram, Tirupur District. The decision to move the store to the neighboring Tharaparam area was met with strong resistance from both traders and residents, leading to a tense standoff.

The Tirupur district, known for its commercial activities, witnessed a face-off between the authorities and local residents as they vehemently opposed the relocation of the TASMAC shop. The Tharaparam area, situated adjacent to Dharapuram, had recently become the focal point of controversy as the government intended to shift the liquor store there. Traders and locals, fearing the social implications of having an alcohol store in close proximity, took to the streets in protest.



The area around the proposed relocation site houses various businesses, including grocery stores, pharmacies, and agricultural outlets. Concerns were raised about the potential adverse effects on these establishments if the liquor store was moved. The protesters argued that the presence of such a shop could lead to a rise in anti-social activities and disrupt the peaceful coexistence of the residential and commercial sectors.

Mr. Kalaiyarasan, the Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of Dharapuram Police Station, along with Mr. Manikandan, the Inspector of Tharaparam Police Station, led a team of more than 100 police personnel to manage the situation. The police officers worked tirelessly to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety of both the protesters and the public.

The clash between the traders and the authorities highlights the ongoing struggle between commerce and social order. As discussions continue between concerned parties, the fate of the TASMAC store's relocation hangs in the balance, with the hopes of a peaceful resolution that respects the interests and concerns of all stakeholders.
