Coimbatore District Trade Association Welcomes State Govt’s Waiver of Commercial Tax Arrears

Chief Minister Stalin, had decided to waive off commercial tax arrears amounting to less than 50,000 using 110th provisions of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).


Coimbatore: The business community in Coimbatore is rejoicing as the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Stalin, has decided to waive off commercial tax arrears amounting to less than 50,000 for 110 provisions under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. This decision was announced after the Chief Minister’s meeting with traders’ representatives, including the Coimbatore District Trade Association, where they discussed the challenges faced by the business community in the state.

As a result of this announcement, 95,052 small traders have had their tax arrears amounting to less than 50,000 waived off.

The Coimbatore District Trade Association, representing the traders’ community, expressed their gratitude for this move. A press conference was held at the association’s headquarters, where the President, Muthupandi, addressed the media. He conveyed the association’s appreciation for the Chief Minister’s decision and stated that this move would greatly benefit their members.





During the press conference, Muthupandi, President of the Coimbatore District Trade Association, recounted a recent event where traders, led by the association’s Vice President, Mr. Appavu, met with the Chief Minister in Coimbatore on the 5th of May. During the meeting, Appavu emphasized the need to waive off tax arrears below 50,000 for their community. The Chief Minister, recognizing the importance of this issue, assured the traders that their request would be fulfilled.

This waiver, applicable for a period of five months, signifies a victory for our association. We appreciate the Chief Minister’s decision and consider it a triumph for our community, remarked Muthupandi.
