An elephant named Padayappa is near the bus stand at Maraiyur near Udumalai in Tirupur district on the Tamil Nadu border.



Elephant walking on the Udumalpet-Munnar road, the public screamed and ran away.



The drivers of the vehicles passing by also panicked and parked the vehicles on the roadside.

But the public was relieved as the elephant crossed the road without causing any untoward incident and headed towards the tea estate, a kilometre away.

The forest department, however, was actively engaged in driving the elephant into the forest.
