Tirupur: Mayor, Deputy Mayor and others participated in the 54th staging ceremony of the Pavalakodi Kummi group held at Vinoba Nagar near Tirupur and greeted them.
In a bid to revive the endangered traditional Tamil art of Kummi, a large number of teams have been training and staging programmes for the general public, including women and children, across the Kongu region.
As a part of this, the 54th arangetram ceremony of Pavalakodi Kummiyattam troupe was held at Vinoba Nagar area of Peruchipalayam on Dharapuram Road, Tirupur. A large number of people from Vinoba Nagar area participated in it and trained for more than a month.
The 54th arangetram ceremony was held at sakthi vinayagar temple ground in Vinoba Nagar area today.
Amman Viswanathan, coordinator of Pavalakodi Kummiyattam group, senior teachers Arunachalam, Paramasivam, Mani and others participated and sang a number of songs with tunes since Murugan married Valli with the help of Lord Vinayaka.
The girls, including boys and girls, dressed in identical uniforms to suit the song, danced the same way and surprised the onlookers.
