Goat prices fall due to increase in arrivals in Kundadam weekly market ahead of Aadi perukku Heavy demand for black heifers

The weekly market is held every Saturday in Kundadam. Sheep heifers and goats are brought to this market by local vendors from kundadam, Vettuyoor, Koduvai, Mettukadai, Sooryanallur, Poolavadi, Pellampatti, Dharapuram and other places for sale.

Traders from Mecheri, Kerala, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Pollachi and Udumalpet come here to buy goats. They buy the goats here and take them to different parts of Tamil Nadu for sale.

Around 1,500 to 2,000 goats will be brought to the Kundadam market every week for sale. All the goats that come up for sale will be sold out by 8 a.m. But since the arrival of goats has increased in the last three weeks, 2,000 to 3,000 goats were brought for sale.

In the last two weeks, there has been a sharp fall in prices due to the increase in the inflow of goats.

About this, goat trader Mahendran said:

As the month of Aadi means the month of Kidai cutting, there is a lot of heifer cuts in the temples of Kaliamman and Karupparaiyan in the rural areas where the tiruppur baniyan companies run the companies, the mill industrialists, the vaithrupavas of heavy vehicles and the kaliamman and karupparaiyan temples in the rural areas. Due to this, the goat heifer has been in high demand throughout the month.

In this way, the black-coloured godowns are being sold at a good price and it is special for the farmers and the general public to offer black beans to Karuppana Swamy to fulfill the request.

As a result, the 10 kg black-coloured heifers will be sold for up to Rs 6,000 in other months. But in the month of Aadi alone, the same weight of the kitai was sold for Rs 7,500. Similarly, there was a sharp fall in prices as the vendors who were buying meat did not show much interest as the sales in the meat shops were low.
