Coimbatore: Under the project "My Dream School," Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW) adopted Panchayat Union Middle School, Keeranatham in Coimbatore with the goal of developing it into a model school in the district by November 2022.

As a part of Year 2 programs and to develop the social skills of the students, Children’s parliament is being formed and the elections were conducted in the school premises on the 17th of July.

The programme was created and implemented by the RAAC Programme Management team, with assistance from the RAAC Office Bearers. Where the volunteers provided instruction on children's parliament and then invited nominations, the nominations were scrutinised, and their interest was assessed through a one-on-one discussion.

The final list of nominations was released, and the election was held in the presence of District Education Officer Punitha Anthoniammal and Block Education Officer Thannasi, who have always been supportive of such efforts.

Special guests from Bosch, Jude - Group Manager, Block Development officials Rama, and members from Keeranatham Panchayat attended the inauguration celebration and encouraged students.

The election was held to select a Chief Minister and a cabinet of Ministers to handle Education, Culture, Health, Law & Order, Sports, and Finance. The elected members will be installed on July 18th, and their responsibilities will be assigned. This campaign will be an experiential approach for them to learn about democracy and build their social skills. By increasing the sense of ownership of students the school will be able to achieve bigger goals.

The Children's Parliament will also help kids develop their leadership skills, since they will make decisions in collaboration with their friends, teachers, and school leadership. ‘This program is one of a kind as it gives them an experience of voting and the importance of casting their vote’ said the District Education Office.
