Coimbatore: Tamilnadu nutritious meal Employee's Association Coimbatore district workers protested before the district collectorate on Monday seeking the immediate implementation of the announced pension amount of Rs.6750.

It was also stressed that until now the Anganwadi pensioners receive only a petty amount of Rs.2000 which turns out to be insufficient to run their livelihood.

In addition, they demanded their General Provident Fund and Special Provident Fund be disseminated at the earliest.

In this regard, Veerabadhran, the district president, stated: "For the past 40 years, anganwadi workers have been a neglected sector. The state government is prepared to spend roughly Rs. 9000 per Sniffer dog, but we are not worth even half of its value. Most of the retired workers have been pushed to a critical position as beggars suffering for a day's meal. We ask the government to carry out the increase in pension amount that was promised in their election manifesto. In case of delay or negligence, it is sure that the ruling government is a failure."

In spite of numerous demonstrations across districts and at the state headquarters, He informed that this protest will be taken to an indefinite hunger strike if the administration fails to consider its immediacy.
