A retired electricity employee died after the van became stuck in a ditch near Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore

Nagammal, a retired electricity board employee was at home when she suddenly had chest pain. Immediately, his took her in his car to the hospital. Along the way, their progress was hindered by a van that found itself stuck in a ditch due to the rain. Everyone tried to push the van aside for a long time but sadly, Nagammal died before they could reach the hospital.


Coimbatore: The deceased has been identified as Pappathi alias Nagammal (70), a resident of Sakthi Nagar in Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore.

When Nagammal was at home yesterday, she suddenly had chest pain. Following this, Rajapandian took Nagamma in his car and left for the hospital.

When they were on their way to Sakthinagar road, a van went in front of them. As it was raining, the van, which was suddenly moving ahead, got stuck in a ditch on the road. As a result, no vehicle could move, and for an extended period of time, everyone attempted to push the van to the side of the road.

The van was removed by the bogline an hour later and Nagamma was rushed to Rajapandian Hospital. But Nagammal died on the way to the hospital.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and recovered Nagammal's body and sent it to Coimbatore government hospital for post-mortem. The death of a retired woman energy employee who was unable to reach the hospital owing to a terrible road created grief among the area.
