The victory of Ops' son O P Ravindranath was declared invalid by the Madras High Court

The Madras High Court ruled that O P Ravindranath, who contested from the Theni constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, concealed various details, including his assets, in his nomination papers.


Chennai: The Madras High Court ruled that O P Ravindhranath's victory as an MP from Theni parliamentary constituency was invalid.

Panneerselvam's son Ravindhranath won in the Theni constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on an AIADMK ticket.

In this case, he has concealed various details, including property details, in his nomination papers. Milani, a Theni voter, has petitioned the Madras High Court to declare his victory in Theni as null and void.

In the petition, hegde had also claimed that Ravindhranath had won the election by giving money to voters. However, Ravindhranath had filed a rejection petition stating that the election case was not fit for trial and the case should not be taken up for hearing.

The high court delivered the verdict on Thursday as the hearing in the case was completed. The judge then ruled that Rabindranath's victory was invalid. The court also stayed the verdict for 30 days to enable them to appeal against the verdict.

The petition further stated that Rabindranath won the election through distributing money to voters. However, Ravindhranath had filed a rejection petition stating that the election case was not fit for trial and the case should not be taken up for hearing.

The high court delivered the verdict on Thursday as the hearing in the case was completed. The judge then ruled that Rabindranath's victory was invalid. The judge also put off the verdict for 30 days to allow them to file an appeal.
