Udumalpet Residents Block Road with Empty Pots to Demand adequate drinking water supply

Udumalai Kanakampalayam panchayat in Tirupur district has been facing a water crisis for the past few weeks, leading to residents blocking the Udumalpet-Palani road with empty pots to demand proper supply of drinking water. The road blockade has caused disruption to traffic on the road.

Tirupur: Udumalai Kanakampalayam panchayat in Tirupur district has not been getting proper drinking water for the past few weeks.

Enraged by the failure to take proper action despite repeated requests from the public to the panchayat administration, villagers on behalf of the Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a road blockade with empty pots in periyakottai section areas of the udumalpet Palani national highway.

The road blockade was temporarily called off after the Udumalpet police reached the spot and informed the public in writing that drinking water would be supplied properly. It is to be noted that traffic was severely affected for an hour on the Udumalpet Palani National Highway.
