PMK Cadres in Coimbatore Demand Reopening of Shuttered Public Toilet in Mugasimangalam

30 members from the Pattali Makkal Katchi in Coimbatore District staged a protest to press the need to reopen an existing public toilet in Mugasimangalam which has been closed for the past five years. It has been noted that this location is prone to elephant movements, and residents lack basic lavatory facilities, making it considerably more dangerous at night.



Coimbatore: Cadres of the Pattali Makkal Katchi, Coimbatore district staged a protest pressing the need to reopen the existing public toilet that has been closed for the past five years.



Mugasimangalam village is located in Alandurai Municipality, Thondamuthur Union, Coimbatore District, and is home to up to 180 families. It has been noted that this location is prone to elephant movements, and residents lack basic lavatory facilities, making it considerably more dangerous at night.



During the public grievance meeting at the district collector's office on Monday, more than 30 people took part in this protest stressing the need to reopen public toilets in that area.



They stated that the existing toilets had been kept closed for more than 5 years, which has caused a social concern about hygiene for the elderly.
